Our name has its roots in our very purpose and mission: to give a voice to all of us unheard before; to give us an opportunity to speak up and express our opinions. For centuries, we have only been told what is better for us, how to live our lives and what we have to do to “fix our problems”.  V.O.I.C.E. is here to give us the opportunity to verbalise our views and thoughts and feelings about our experiences of being displaced, repressed and oppressed on our own land.

 

V.O.I.C.E. will give us back the power and freedom of speech. After centuries of being told what to do, when to do it and how to do it, us, Indigenous Australians, have a forum and an opportunity to take control over our destiny, to shape our future. V.O.I.C.E.‘s aim is to empower our communities, supporting us in restoring our identity, our pride, our right to social self-determination. We will work with our communities, for the communities, to right the wrongs and provide each and every one of us with fair and adequate opportunities to social development towards living purposeful and rewarding lives. "Achieving Together Social Independence" is not only our logo, but our passion, our goal and our creed.
